Technology
- Cellular Therapy
EvoCell is developing new platform technologies for autologous
cell therapy. These technologies allow adult patient cells (e.g. blood
lymphocytes
or skin cells) to be reprogrammed to a pluripotent state. Reprogrammed
pluripotent
cells can subsequently be differentiated into other cell types, such
as neurons or beta cells, and serve as a source of target cells to
treat degenerative
diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, type 1 diabetes, Parkinson’s
disease, spinal cord injuries, and cardiac muscle injury, among others.
Our reprogramming technology will facilitate the customized generation
of cells from patients with a multiplicity of needs. Cells from patients
carrying genetic mutations will be harvested and subject to reprogramming
to a progenitor state. These cells will later be used for testing
their response to novel drugs, allowing for a large number of in vitro
tests
prior to using in patients directly.
